Racisim, Colonialism and Apartheid the path to Poverty in Africa?

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on he earth.” Genesis 1:26

God created every individual in all race in His own image and likeness. Racism deny that reality. His will is then man may have control of the things created. However colonialism came and say no to that. Years back Apartheid brought misery to our parents and life was lost due to the skin color issue. That is sinful and can’t be tolerated. On papers all these three evil deeds are said to be done with, however reality denotes otherwise, racism I still there. People’s hearts are still wicked as it always has been. ( Jeremiah 17:9). When I ask several of my friends that “what do you think is the cause of poverty in Africa?” They mostly blame racism, apartheid and colonialism. Is that really the primary cause? I think there is more to it than that, below I will give you several reasons why we have poverty in Africa. My pastor, Paul Schlehlein wrote his 14 reasons for poverty i Africa (see in betweentwocultures.com). However here I will look on it in a different angel.

Reasons for poverty in Africa

  • Corruption. We have big government which is corrupt and self sufficiency. Leaders are elected to lead the country by these poor people but when they are in leadership, they opress and rule unmamely. Zimbabwe had suffered to many decades under the leadership of one of the most wise people in Africa. But his World view is immoral and arrogant.
  • Theft. I am from a rural area where most young people are not working. Because they are underprivileged, they find a living by stealing. Even some who are working steel and if they are caught, they don’t get any safe and life tend to be sower.
  • Laziness. People don’t want to work hard. There are some jobs that we as South Africans has named them “Zimbabwean jobs” why, because we are pathetic and lazzy. We want the government to provide for us insted of wprking lanorimg with our hands.
  • Imorality. There are a huge number of single parents around us. They have children with different man and no one is ever to provide, protect, lead them well. Marriage is not valued valued everymore.
  • Evil heart. Unless our hearts are changed, we will always remain corrup. We wont see work as a blessing. With evil heart, gambling will be a way to our finacial freedom. With evil hearts we will never gove up spending money on things which are not essential for our lives.

Notice I mentioned zero idea leading to poverty in light of apartheid, racism and colonialism. Yes those are evil, however we should take personal rensponsibility and stop blaming those events. We are living in another era. It is on our shoulders to reform Africa to be a continent of Honor. Let’s fight poverty by using the resources God gave us.

God saves

Mark 10:23-27

And Jesus, looking around, said to His disciples,”How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!”The disciples were amazed at His words. But Jesus answered and said to them,”How hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a Camel to go through the eye of needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” They were even more astonished and said to Him ” who then can be saved?” Looking at them Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; For all things are possible with God”

This passage is so evengalical and reveals some stunning truth about the sovereignty of in salvation of mankind. However there is a faulty interpretation of this passage by most charasmatic preachers who focus on the words “All things are possible with God” without looking at the context and concludes as to what Christ meant by those words.

Jesus here gives the contrast between a Richman going to heaven and a camel going through the needle. The disciples understood the context that Christ was speaking about salvation and they then got the idea that it is possible with God to save mankind. That is what in light of the immediate context Christ referred to whenbHe said ” all things are possible with God”
We all know and believe that God is holy and just and cannot do what is contrary to his charector. Thus we cannot argue against his ability to save making. Jesus use of these words clearly cut throughout our nerves, it reveals to us that it is impossible for anyone to be saved by his one effort. In light to this passage we can refere to the rich.

Salvation is entirely a gracious, sovereign work of God (Romans 3:21-28; Galatians 3:6-9). God is the gospel. We are sinners deserving His Wrath because of our depraved nature. He graciously gave us His Son in Jesus to be the saviour of those who confess His name and believe in him as their Personal saviour and Lord.

It is possible with God to save you as well. He demand that you repent of your sins and come to Jesus the beginner and the end of our faith. Would you today make it possible to be in the realm of the sonship of God by calling upon the name of the Lord than trusting in worldly riches and other form of religion? Come today. This is the day for God to save you.

Raising children

One of the most important challenging task we as parents face is parenting. This is a difficult task that either Unites or devides parents. Children are our rensponsibility to raise. They are not meant to raise themselves. We must be actively engaged in making them what God want them to be.

An imperative

Parenting is a command that God gave. The unfallabe word of God gives a profound way to raise our children. Here we will only focus on the platform set by the Apostle Paul in the latter to the Church at Ephesus.

Fathers, do not provoke your Children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline or training and instruction or counsel of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)

In this single verse, God lays out for us a very comprehensive program; a basic philosophy of raising children. In this verse, God tell us what not to do and then gives us what our goal, plan, strategy, method and standards should be. Let us observe each profound, instructive and Helpful method that God has set for us.

Why does Paul speak particularly to the fathers? Are mothers to be exuse in parenting? I mean who spend most of the time with children at home? Why fathers are being instructed here? The bible doesn’t give us a direct answer as to why. One possible expanation to this is that fathers often neglects the rensponsibility to raise their children.

This might be because fathers assume that it is the wife rensponsibility to raise children and it is his rensponsibility to provide for the children. In some instances, this happen by default. He become so involve in his Job that he doesn’t have time to be with the children. He hardly see them and spend time with them. He is up by 5 a.m and return home by 7 p.m. tired and ready to eat and sleep. Parenting in such a man is transfared to the Wife.

When Paul speak to the fathers he is speaking to the mothers. The reason he adresses the fathers is that what the mothers do, the father’s are rensponsible for. Fathers are given the responsibility to be the head of the family. That is, he ought to lead, protect and provide for his family. He has given authority by God to this end.

What not to do

Do not provoke your children to wrath”

This is a command. We should not provoke them. How do we restrain ourselves from not provoking them to wrath?

~We must not expect more of them than they are capable of doing. (Proverbs 22:6)

~We need to be careful about how we correct them. How frequently we talk to children in a tone of voice or in a way we would never talk to adults? How often do we call them “stupid” or “dump”? They grow up thinking they really are dump and stupid because of our attitude towards them.

~ We must avoid double standards. Don’t be hypoctitic. Do not tell them not to do something of which you as well do.

~We must have a good time with them. Fathers, children enjoy it when you play games with them. Being around them creates mutual love for daddy. Communicate to them. Do not ever ignore them or critique their proposition before they are finished. Apreciate them when they do something great.

What to do

Bring them up”

This is the goal. Your rensponsinility is just this. Bringing up your children is not the rensponsibility of the mothers but of the fathers as well. It is not your grandparents dutty to rise your children. We should show initiative and labour to raise them. It is our goal in parenting. If you don’t have this goal, you will certainly fail your children and your calling to parenting.

How do you bring them up?

Paul gives us ways to do so.

Discipline. This is the plan. You have to make it a point to discipline your children. If this area is done well, your children Will be brought up well.

Training. God commands us in proven 22:6 to “train up a child in the way he should go”. This again is an imperative. We cannot run from it. Our children shouldn’t be trained by their friends, school teachers, and or anyone else beside you as a parent.

The Bible commands us to meditate in His word. Our children ship be taught the a council of God. Parents in Isarel were commanded to teach their Children the word of God. Paul here gives us the source of instruction, that is “of the Lord”. Chatechisms are really the easy tool to use in this regard. Reading a Bible story to your children is ideal. Let the word of God be the foundational tool to rearing your children.

Parents are you training up those souls which God gave you the authority to train? Are you shifting your calling and rensponsinility to your wife?

Team up with your wife in this regard. It is your chief rensponsibility to train up your children.

Book Review

Author: Sinclair B Ferguson

Title: Christian life an introduction to Christian doctrine

The bolt and but of Christianity is built out of a system that is formulated in all of the Bibliology. Sinclair’s book is a mini systermatic theology which deal primarly with the basics of Christian faith. In this book he expain the foundation of Christian faith in life of doctrines such as hamateriology, predestination, election, Devine providance, justification, sanctification and redemption, adoption, faith and many other key doctrines to Christian behaviour.

The basis of which he wrote this book i derived directly from reformed perspective in light of Calvin, zwingli,Augustine and Luther. It Is strictly calvanistic but he barely expose the word but carefully bring into light texts which provebhis propositions regarding the doctrines of grace.

I am so encouradged by this work that this godly man has put together. It is written in a simple vivid and easy to understand language that every English reader can comprehend. So thankful for this volume.

Problem solving in the home

Sydwell Mthombeni

29 April 2018

Families are torned apart because of a poor problem solving in the home. I’m writhing this with the goal at least to give you some better way to solve your problems. Actually I believe that this can also be helpful even to solve any form of a problem you may ever experience or are currently expriwncing. Below I will give you four ways to solve a problem.

1. Discern the different level of the problem. What were you feeling before the problem arise? What caused the problem? Who is involved and what wrong have they done or you did that lead to that problem? What wrong attitude may be associated with the problem? Is it the first time you are having this problem? Is there an attitude of selfishness in your heart concerning this problem? Try to answer this questions as you descen you problem. Remember the goal is to find answers or the solution to your problem.

2. Discover the biblical way I handling your problem. Yes I is true that other people can help you with thoughts as you persue your problem solving. However ask yoursel; what does God want you to do about this problem? Search the scriptures to find right wisdom that can help solve or consult a godly man who will use biblical councel.pray about it and patiently awaits God’s solution.

3. Confess. Before God and the person you have wronged. Don’t be ashamed of saying “it was wrong and foolish for me to have done….May you please forgive me?” Ask God to forgive you as well. This is a crucial and humbling moment but remember the goal is to solve a problem.

4. Discipline yourself. When people have problemsin the home divorce and other harsh choices are made. A problem solver will be discipline. Structure your life for a change, a good change. It is foolish to quickly concluded “enough is enough”. When you are angry yes that sound well.but later on as days go by you may feel sorry for what happened and the way you handled it. Thus be disciplined and think positively.

Inteligent disign

By Sydwell Mthombeni

April 5,2018

“Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God
and him only shall you serve.’”

MATTHEW 4:8-10

Satan tempt in an intelligent designed manner. He beautify sin. He bring sexual immoral to be so glorious to you so that you fall. He make stealing look awsome since you will benefit after all. Satan does not tell you you will die if you use drugs but he gives you the design for pleasure.

Should we call to this trap?

Christ is out ideal example to use a right intellectual design. He use God’s Word. We are commanded tomeditate on the word of God day and night. The words of God should be ” the log in our path” it should be hideen in our heart’s so that when Satan bring us into the test, we may have the knowladge to help us victorious like Jesus Did while being tempted by Satan.

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. MATHHEW 6:14-15

Who among us does not desire to be forgiven when we know we have done wrong? And who does not despise injustice, particularly when we are the ones against whom a wrong has been committed? We all do want to be forgive and thus demand we all need to forgive.

This past week we were remebering what Christ did for those who are redeemed by his blood through the fogiving of trespasses and sins. However we as individual find it hard to forgive those who have wronged us.

We are warned here that we must forgive others in order that we be forgiven. God forgave us so that we be right with him. This implies that we should as well forgive those who wronged us so that as individual may togehter dwell in peace and harmony.

“And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God”

Today is friday, we celebrate Christ’s dearth and his redirection on Easter weekend. In accordance to the context of luke 24, it was a day of the Passover. A Passover was a day that the Israelists were to celebrate each year from the day in which God saved Israel from Egypt back in the Exodus 12. Here in verses 14- 16 Christ is with his disciples on the table about to eat of the feast prepared for them.

Table talk

Years back, Martin Luther wrote a book called table talk. In the book he recorded all the messages he taught his friends while they gathered on the tanleand discuss theology. R.C Sproul and ligonier ministries have in previous years been publishing a monthly magazine called table talk.

Christ had his table talk on the day of the Passover. Many doctrines wete taught in jusy one everning. Here I will focus on what Christ taught them concerning his deity.

1. Eat with you before I suffer

Jesus knew he was going to die. U knew the kind of dearth he would experience. He knew it was God’s grand desire to put him to grief. Jesus desired to eat with them so that an institution of the new covenant Lord’s Supper would occurs. The Lord’s Supper is the same As the passover. It is done in the remembrance of Christ. CHRIST KNEW HE WILL DIE A GLORIOUS DEARTH. HE IS GOD. We know not how, when, and where we will die. It is a mystery. But to Christ, it wasn’t he knew everything.

2. I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom.

Jesus knew what was going to happen to him then and he knew what will happen in glory. We are promissed to eat of the marriage supper of the lamb when Christ return. This is a glorious promise that we are given. God’s promises are kept and certainly will come to pass.

Do you trust in an omnicient Christ as your saviour? Christ promised that if you believe on him you will have everlasting life? Do you believe? Christ is eager to eat with you in glory. Where every people groups and nations will he together glorfying the lamb that was slain, will you oh sinner repent and submit to Christ as your saviour like a sinner at the cross?

Consequence of ideas

Sydwell mthombeni

Logic demand that we use propositions to draw out a valid conclusion who’s is affordable. However there are ideas that are used to make a premise but are incontrast with the argument at hand. I’m eager to at least give you four fallacies that lead to an illogical ideas with bad consequences.

1. Strawman argument. This fallacy is occurs when an argument is shifted to an individual knowledge capacity. Let me illustrate it this way: suppose you are discussing about how a certain player at a soccer game was a weakest link. As you discuss one of the guy respond to you by saying things like “what do you know about football, youvwerr born yesterday…” this is absolutely contrary to why the issue at hand is intended. It is a straw man argument and often those kind of talk and up in vain without valid conclusions.

2.Adhominem argument, i what what call against the man. Often when we are discussing there are times when individuals level of thinking fall short and they run out of thought about the issue being discussed, they tend to attack the other party who have valid propositions with supportive evidence.

Ideas are our world’s dominating evolution. Science and all other explicit changes being made is the consequences I ideas. However if te ideas are given without proper reasoning then we will always remain fickle in our thinking
